“I care about what matters to our families and will fight for the issues important to residents in this district. As a nurse-attorney, I have spent the last two years drafting, testifying and working hard for passage of several bills to protect our children and citizens from poor healthcare providers. I am proud to say that all the legislation I have worked on has passed both the House of Representatives and the Senate unanimously! I love serving my neighbors and will continue to be most accessible to you - as I look forward to continuing my community service as your House Representative.”

Fiscal Responsibility

I’ve worked hard to keep my family supported during these economic times as know that wasteful spending and fiscal responsibility must be addressed. I will:

  • Promote the establishment of sustainable good paying jobs for our community, such as the Christiana Care planned facility and the Delaware City Refinery.
  • Create new jobs with tax incentives for small businesses and agriculture, by encouraging small business growth and entrepreneurship.
  • Support green energy legislation and business finder tax credits for bringing sustainable employment to Delaware.
  • Support legislation to ensure that state government is transparent, streamlined and efficient.

Education

As a parent of 3 children and Educator, I believe education is a vital component to the future of Delaware. We must all strive for excellence in education. I will:

  • Support legislation which ensures a thriving learning environment for children at all levels of learning abilities.
  • Advocate for top notched public schools and the expansion of the SEED program so that all Delaware students can be competitive in today’s tough job market.
  • Increase teaching resources and support to help retain and recruit quality educators while providing sufficient space for students to learn.
  • Remain focused on the child, to improve student's achievement, and promote parental support/involvement.
  • Promote programs that support and meet the needs of working families (such as after school needs, tutoring, and health and nutritional support for families).

Healthcare

As an emergency room nurse and former EMT, I know first hand the impact of Delaware healthcare issues and the value of quality care for everyone. We need:

  • Greater hospital and emergency services brought to our community that support the growing needs of our district and increase access to healthcare and prescriptive needs.
  • Stronger state policy for affordable healthcare where families are able to choose their providers.
  • To develop policies to promote efficient access to affordable, quality providers.
  • To take action to inform families and seniors about important health care decisions affecting the community.
  • To support legislation to ensure an adequate supply of services and health professionals to meet our community needs.

Land Protection

The State controls the farmland preservation programs, the purchase of open space and our schools. I will:

  • Ensure state agencies are held to tough standards when reviewing development plans to promote smart growth.
  • Make certain that the infrastructure of our schools and roadways are capable of accommodating new residents.
  • Place more emphasis on preserving our community's open spaces and supporting our agricultural economy.
  • Identify methods to reduce congestion, promote commuter services and reduce fuel and energy costs for families.
